Pick a card whose opening names a threat or a destination; the character keeps pulling the scene toward it.
Rulers, heirs and their enemies react best when you arrive with a request, a rumour or a debt.
Some cards are not one character but a game master. Bring a party roster or a class and let them run the table.
A retired demon lord in your kitchen or a goblin maid with a mop is still fantasy, at a slower pace.

Strong fantasy openings end mid-action. If the opening only describes a place, plan to bring the plot yourself.
Cards with named factions and cities reward questions about them; cards without them travel light.

Frequently asked questions
Charmi stores memory per character. Places and names you introduce can be accepted into that memory and are retrieved when relevant; the card's own lore lives in its definition.
A card written as a narrator or game master rather than a single person. It expects you to supply a party, a class or a scenario before it starts.
Hubs describe a way in, not an exclusive category. A card can suit more than one intent.
